GOMERSALL’S DREAM A9X TORANA

TOURING CAR Masters’ driver Jason Gomersall is proud to announce that he will be racing his brand new Holden A9X Torana this week making the debut in his ‘dream’ car this week at Winton Motor Raceway.

The iseek Racing driver says this car brings back old memories and has been keen to run this model since making his debut back in 2012.

“Some of my earliest memories of touring car racing was watching the Marlboro Holden Dearler Team A9X Toranas†Gomersall said.

“As a kid I thought they were absolutely stunning-looking cars and to my mind the MHDT A9X Torana is still to this day the most iconic Australian touring car ever built.â€Â

Matt Stone Racing built the car after a rule change that now allows cars built up to 1978 to compete and will be the first two-door Torana to ever race in the series.

“When I first joined the category in 2012 I was keen to build a Torana hatchback but it wasn’t eligible at the time as the cut-off was up to 1976 but as soon as the 2-door did become an option I was determined to build one†Gomersall continued.

“A big thank you to the team at Matt Stone Racing for making this dream a reality.

“They have spent many many hours to build a truly amazing TCM car and I also have to thank my sponsors for sharing the passion for this project  especially GRK Plumbing who have allowed their branding to be altered to replicate the MHDT livery of the day.

“I do hope the fans of TCM [especially the Holden ones] approve of what we have tried to achieve.

Gomersall is currently leading the ProAm Touring Car Masters points and will make his debut in the MHDT-inspired A9X Torana this Friday for Round 3 of the Australian Touring Car Masters.
