RITTER GRABS LAST GASP SANDOWN POLE
GREG RITTER has sensationally charged to his second Touring Car Masters pole position from three attempts in a close qualifying session at Sandown.
The Chevy Monza driver charged to the top of the times in the final five seconds of qualifying as a drying track saw times timble right until the flag at the end of 20-minutes.
Ritter grabbed pole on his TCM debut at Phillip Island last November and backed up that performance with another strong run at a home-town track today.
Ritter battled with Bowe for the top spot with the Holden Torana driver John Bowe the Tasmanian ultimately falling just 0.4 seconds short.
Jim Richards will start third in the Shannons AMC Javelin with Steven Johnson a strong fourth in the Falcon GTHO.
Tony Karanfilovski ended the session fifth – his best TCM qualifying effort for some time.
Eddie Abelnica Glenn Seton Adam Garwood Jason Gomersall and Cameron Tilley completed the top 10.
Race 1 will be held at 1:45pm local time with live timing at natsoft.com.au
