BOWE AND ABELNICA MAKE ALL-AUSSIE FRONT ROW
IN A qualifying performance dominated by Aussie cars John Bowe has scored his eighth Sydney Motorsport Park Touring Car Masters pole position this morning at the Muscle Car Masters.
The Holden Torana SL/R 5000 driver set a TCM track qualifying record time of 1m39.8691s on his sixth of seven laps to score the top spot over Eddie Abelnica’s Sydney’s Cheapest Cars XB Falcon Coupe’.
Abelnica’s 1m40.7389s was comfortably under the existing TCM race lap record as was third-placed Glenn Seton’s Thunder Road Racing Ford Mustang Coupe.
Pro Master points leader Andrew Miedecke qualified his Lubrimaxx Camaro fourth with Jason Gomersall fifth in the iSeek Torana SL/R 5000.
Neil Crompton made a strong impression on his TCM qualifying debut logging the sixth fastest time in the PAYCE Ford Mustang he’s borrowed from Steven Johnson – and John Bowe – for a one-off Muscle Car Masters cameo this weekend.
Tony Karanfilovski Mark King Jim Richards and the returning Brett Youlden completed the top-10.
Notable performances: Cameron Tilley put the rebuilt Valliant Pacer 13th Tony Edwards put his XA GT Falcon 17th having driven up from Melbourne yesterday and David Falvey ended up 19th in the debut of the two-door Torana to TCM competition.
After enduring engine dramas in practice yesterday – that necessitated an engine change in the afternoon – 16-year-old Tasmanian driver Adam Garwood’s tough TCM initiation continued completing just two laps in his Sunliner Torana.
