PERKINS WINS SANDOWN KUMHO SERIES OPENER

Western Australian rookie teenagers Jake Kostecki 15 and Alex Rullo 14 were highly impressive and qualified third and fourth on their debuts.

However their first Kumho Series race didnt go to plan with Rullo retiring after just two laps and Kostecki one lap down in 14th after dramas.

Birthday boy Brendan Strong made it onto the track to race today after rolling at the Esses during yesterdays late afternoon practice session. He finished 11th in the 15-car field with Queenslander Lyle Kearns failing to take the start in his ex-Paul Morris Motorsports Commodore.

The opening round of the Kumho Series will be completed at Sandown tomorrow with two more races a 12-lap Race 2 at 9.40am and an 18-lap Race 3 at 12.10pm.
