TCM TO COMPETE IN NEW ZEALAND IN 2015

THE ENZED Touring Car Masters will head ‘across the ditch’ to New Zealand in early 2015.

At least nine regular Touring Car Masters regulars will head to Highlands Motorsport Park on the South Island to race head-to-head with the popular NZ Central Muscle Cars series at the Highlands Festival of Speed.

The Trans-Tasman clash will take place on January 31-February 1 next year allowing plenty of time for competing vehicles to return in time for the opening round of the 2015 TCM series.

TCM and Central Muscle Cars have successfully raced head to head at Muscle Car Masters in the past with the Aussie cars competitive against the more heavily-modified Kiwi racers with another exciting contest set for the second running of the Highlands festival – modelled on the successful Goodwood Festival in the UK.

“We are thrilled to have been invited to Highlands for the Festival of Speed next year†said TCM director and competitor Tony Hunter.

“It is a massive feather in the cap for our series and our competitors that they are regarded highly enough for this invitation to be extended our way from New Zealand and the Highlands promoters. We will be doing our all to help put on the best show possible.

“Each time TCM and CMC cars have raced head-to-head it’s been exciting crowd pleasing and fantastic fun and that’s what we are all about. Our series is very excited to be part of this event and are looking forward to putting on a show for our Kiwi friends.â€Â

Highlands Motorsport Park general manager Mike Sentch told the NZ Herald newspaper:

“We’re super excited to have racing legends such as expat Kiwi Jim Richards and Aussie stars John Bowe and Andrew Miedecke heading to Highlands Motorsport Park as part of the Australian Touring Car Masters to compete in the first trans-Tasman battle with our local Central Muscle Cars heroes.â€Â

TCM organisers will confirm the entrants selected to travel to New Zealand in the near future.

Round 6 of the 2014 ENZED Touring Car Masters Series will be held this weekend at Mount Panorama Bathurst with a 29-car field set to tackle three races this weekend as part of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 weekend.

The TCM Mountain Masters is presented by ENZED Shannons and Rare Spares.
