THREE FROM THREE FOR KUMHO SERIES LEADER

However Ruggier made the jump in the longer 18-lap final race sprinting into the lead off the start with Matt Chahda second and Simpson slow off the line and shuffled back to third.

Ruggiers lead only lasted a few corners as he out-braked himself and ran off the road at Turn 3 rejoining in fifth place as Simpson slipped past Chahda to take second place and within milliseconds the lead all in the one corner!

Rear end dramas sidelined Chahda soon after while Ruggier recovered to finish second to Simpson in both the race and for the round.

Kumho Series debutant Drew Russell made it two podiums in successive weekends for his family at Queensland Raceway claiming third in Race 3 and overall for the round.

His younger brother Aaren recorded a breakthrough podium result last weekend at the same circuit in the V8 Supercar Development Series.

Steve Briffa finished fourth overall for the weekend in his Poco Furniture Commodore.

Contact on the start line of the final race eliminated Chris Delfsmas Fujitsu Falcon and forced rookie Ryan Cochran to pit to remove a damaged left rear door.

Coverage of this weekends round of the series will be shown on SBS Speedweek on Sunday August 24 with a one-hour program to follow at a later date on SPEED TV Australia.

The next round of the Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series will be at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on September 20-21.
