ALBURY YOUNG GUN JOINS KUMHO SERIES

He will compete in the full six-round national series and has already tested the car at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria.

The car Chahda will drive is one with plenty of V8 Supercar history.

Originally built by the Colourscan privateer team in Queensland in 1999 Chahdas car was sold to Gibson Motorsport in 2001 and campaigned by Rodney Forbes for Gibson/00 Motorsport.

Forbes again drove the car in various V8 Supercar rounds in 2002 before it was sold to Terry Wyhoon who raced it in the 2003 V8 Supercar Development Series.

It then was sold to Gulf Western Oils and raced in the old Touring Car Challenge category in addition to being run as a ride car before being recently secured by the Chahdas for their step up into the Kumho Series this year.

The car competed in the Bathurst 1000 on three occasions from 1999 to 2001 finishing 15th in 2000 with the Colourscan team and drivers Rick Bates and Brett Peters and 21st in 2001 for Gibson Motorsport driven by Rodney Forbes and David Truckie Parsons.

Chahda will run the #00 on the car and is about to have it re-liveried into a black and silver colour scheme reminiscent of the 00 Motorsport Falcon team.

The 2013 Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series will kick off at Sydney Motorsport Park in New South Wales on March 23-24.

A bumper field approaching 25 cars is expected at the opening round of the series which again forms a major part of the popular Shannons Nationals for the season.
